Since a few months I am now completely on Linux. Normally I always had a PC, the strongest one, equipped with Windows, so that I can also waste my time playing games. But at some point I got fed up with the operating system bitching around more and more. Eternal problems with drivers, space-wasting temporary files, jerky mouse pointers and updates where you had to pray that they would not break the system.
There was a great site back then. #GOG (Good Old Games), which first of all don’t live up to their reputation anymore anyway, because they bring more and more new titles instead of good old games and secondly they don’t give a shit about Linux. The new Galaxy Client is not even planned for Linux and the files on the website itself can’t even be downloaded properly anymore. Meanwhile even #Steam has done more for Linux. Steam calls it the whole proton. Unfortunately, when you buy the games, it’s not immediately clear whether they will run without problems with Proton, would a small list be useful?
Well, I could already play several titles with #Proton 4.2-9 without problems. I.e.:
- No Man’s Sky
- Ashes of the Singularity
- The Dark Crystal
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution
- Plague Inc
- Satellite Reign
- Two Point Hospital
- System Shock 2
- X 3 & 4
- All the Shadowrun games
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY
The Skyrim Special Edition also works very well. Unfortunately only without voices of the characters. You can see the lips moving, but no sound. If you have a solution for this, give it to me. 😁
